»The Family of Man«

A portrait of humanity
Reopening the 6th of July 2013

Since 1994, the largest photographic exhibition of all time, "The Family of Man", has been housed in the perfectly restored medieval castle of Clervaux. 503 pictures by 273 photographers from 68 countries are assembled into a mosaic of the human condition.

This impressive photographic exhibition was curated in 1955 by Luxembourg native,  Edward Steichen,  for the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). In 1966 the last version of this travelling exhibit was shown in the Grand Duchy by virtue of its benefactors in the United States. In October 2003, the exhibition was registered as a UNESCO world heritage site.
